My baby turned 13 - a teenager - and I forgot to post his birthday (sorry Byron). I am now officially the mother of teenagers (Oscar is 16.5 yrs) and that is making me feel o.l.d.
Byron had a great day and we had a laser skirmish party which was lots of fun, especially since we live on a property so it was very realistic and the kids were run ragged.
So happy birthday Byron...we love you very much :)
Now to crafting.
I have been on a quest to teach myself to crochet thanks to the inspiration from Mel's blog. I thought I would make some granny squares that I could work on while watching TV, waiting on the kids at sport, during my lunch hour at work, you get the idea. I watched the youtube clip that Mel linked on her blog. I watched that damn clip about 500 times. I could not get that square to look good.
Not wanting to fail I googled (in defeat) "simple crochet blanket for beginner" (because google never lets me down) and I found a pattern for a very easy blanket. I cast on 200 chain and then row after row of triple crochet. It was easy and I was off and running...
Row, after row after row...
And row after row after row.
I am nearly out of wool now and it is about the size of a single bed cover. The worst part will be weaving all the ends in, not looking forward to that.
For now, I am happy; I have a lovely wollen blanket for us to snuggle under as the weather gets colder. Thanks Mel, I have not given up on the granny squares just yet LOL
