With Die Hard on the TV, and the kids amusing themselves, I was able to get all caught up on my 52 week challenge...

I am a very slow scrapper and this challenge really stressed me out. I think this is a new scrapping record for me.

OK, I'll try to keep up to date from now on (yeah right!)
And last, but by no means least, a big "go team" for Oscar, who's soccer team made the finals after their do or die win on Sunday (in the rain and the cold).
My dad turned 70 and we did it in style! The tables looked great, the flowers just what I had imagined, plenty of good food and wine (lots of wine) and this fabbo cake.
We danced all night and I even got to dance with Oscar & Byron who needed a little coaxing, but soon realised that nobody was really looking at them. Made this mama so proud to have such great dance partners.
Dad laughed when we presented him with a fire extinguisher for his new shed (old shed burnt down last year and we are not quite over it yet, but we are over it enough to make jokes LOL).
I had also made an album that was called "70 things..." Oscar & Byron wrote out 70 things about their Da and I gathered them all into an album with some photos. He loved it, and Nana cried. I will attempt to get it back from mum and post a couple of pictures.
We made it home around 1.00am (we had 8.30am soccer the next morning) and the next day I was shattered...all that build up, big night, little sleep. So Sunday was recovery day!
And to finish up I will post a layout that is a tribute to my dad, and a favourite of mine (how could you resist that skinny little kid, with the dirty knees, that grew up to be my dad)
I never did watch this series when it started back in the late 90's. Not because I didn't want to, it just clashed with something else that I watched at the time. BIG MISTAKE JODY!
Fast forward to now and I was able to get my hands on all 6 series. I started at the very first episode and worked my way to the end...and then managed to score a copy of the final episodes that have just aired in the USA.
Can I tell you all how much I enjoyed this series; I loved it. And that is coming off the back of my "West Wing" high. It was a whole lot of watching, but you know I am up for it.
If you havn't watched it, I can highly recommend that you do (if violence, swearing and sex scenes freak you out, then this may not be for you...so don't email me and tell me you were shocked and offended and that you now think I am a freak LOL)
In other news I have been madly organising (with my sister & mum) my Dad's 70th birthday celebrations for this weekend. You know any scrapper worth her salt is going to have to go all out and hand make the invitations and place cards and other bits and pieces. We are down to the wire now and everything seems to be falling into place. Should be a fun night.
The invitation contains my dad's initial and a handcut leaf (which my dad has always had in his gardens ever since I can remember, so it is very fitting.) My sister and I did the invitations in a production line and I don't think there is a pack of HS chipboard letters left in the free world...well not with the letter "W" still attached LOL
And then there's the celebration CD, natch! I gathered dad's favourite songs and made a CD for all the guests. Now this CD is not going to rock the house, but dad will like it :)
Can't wait till Saturday for all the fun to start.
